Ghanaian cashews, processed in Ghana
Gensap Ventures has been processing cashew since 2009. We buy raw nuts from farms around Sunyani and shell, dry, peel, grade, and roast them ourselves — so the value stays here rather than leaving the country in a sack.

See the opportunityWho we are
A cashew processor in the middle of Ghana's cashew belt
Gensap Ventures started in 2009 as an agricultural business and made cashew processing its first — and still its main — processing activity. We operate from Sunyani in the Bono Region, close to the farms we buy from.
We still process by hand, at a scale that suits the local market. A purpose-built hall and a full mechanised line are now installed and waiting to be commissioned — that is what will let us take on larger and more demanding orders.
How it is made
From a sack of raw nuts to a graded kernel
Every step below happens at our own facility. Nothing is sent out and re-badged.
- 1
Intake and drying
Raw cashew nuts arrive in jute sacks, are weighed, checked for moisture and defects, and stored.
- 2
Steam cooking
Nuts are steam-conditioned in pressure vessels fed by our boiler, so the shell separates cleanly.
- 3
Shelling
Cooked nuts are cut and shelled to release the kernel with as few breakages as possible.
- 4
Drying
Kernels are dried on trays in a steam-heated Borma oven to bring moisture down to a safe, stable level.
- 5
Conditioning
Kernels are brought back to around 6 to 7 percent moisture in the humidifier, so the skin releases cleanly and fewer kernels break during peeling.
- 6
Peeling
The testa — the reddish skin — is removed. Kernels can also be supplied in testa, before this step.
- 7
Grading
Kernels are sorted by hand into whole, butt, split, and piece grades. Grading is done by our team rather than by machine.
- 8
Roasting and paste
Graded kernels are roasted, or ground into paste, depending on the order.
- 9
Packing and dispatch
Product is vacuum packed and gas flushed for shelf life, labelled by lot, and loaded for delivery.
